Week commencing September 24th

By James O'Grady

A steady, if unspectacular start to the season, WRU II were the only team not to have lost coming away from Sutton who are likely to be the among the main contenders for the Divison II title with a creditable Draw. Joe T, taking two singles wins and a doubles win, being the standout performer.

WRU I had a very difficult start with their two top players unavailable, one for vacation another with injury. Youngsters Jordan and Glyn deputised admirably but were unable to match the experience of their opponents.

WRU III had Mal and Jeff (both back from illness) playing competitively for the first time for nearly a full season and were undoubtedly a little "ring rusty".

WRU IV travelled to Daresbury minus a couple of their players due to work commitments and lost by the narrowest of margins.

WRU V had Paul and John, playing their very first ever competitive match of Table Tennis, and Jordan playing his first match for our club. Against a much fancied team WRU V lost 6-4 but in truth it was match that could have gone either way.
