Weston wilt be without back row Richard Bignall, lock Sean Eaton and prop Simon Williams due to injury for this opening game at Monks Lane but the Seasiders include three former Blues in wing and ex-Blues skipper Mal Roberts, centre Andy Evans and hooker Glenn Cooper.
Newbury will be looking to 'stop the rot' of three successive relegations as the downward spiral has rapidly taken the Blues back where they started when the league system started in 1987.
Blues director of rugby Andy Widdop said: "The main goal is to stop the slide, and if that means being one point away from relegation, we would be happy with that.
"The club should be able to cope at this level, and maybe in a couple of years' time, get back to Division Two South. The last thing we want is to go down another division."
Newbury's side will have several survivors from last season, plus the crop from the Newbury Stags team that played in Southern Counties North last season while prop Alex Hibdidge, lock Tom Erskine and scrum half Alex Kane have joined from Hampshire Division One champions Andover.
Newbury are looking to continue their encouraging pre-season form but they recognise that It will be a tough game against the ambitious Weston side. So eager are the Blues so muster their home supporters that admission to the game is free and there is free parking too!
