It is second against first in the biggest game of the weekend when Grimsby Borough travel to Manse Lane on Saturday (weather permitting). We have only played once in the last month due to the poor weather and our only match we managed resulted in an excellent 2-1 home victory over Selby Town. Grimsby have taken full advantage of our inactivity and they went top of the league for the first time this season with two convincing wins over FC Bolover during the Christmas period. They won 5-2 away and then ran out even more convincing winners at home when they thrashed Bolsover 7-1. They had nine different scorers over the two games which shows that they will pose danger to us from all over the pitch. They are in excellent form having won eight of their last nine league games and their last defeat was back in October when they lost at Hallam. We faced Grimsby back in August in our second league match of the season and their first when we came away from Grimsby with a convincing 3-0 win. Our goal scorers that night were Greg Kidd, Brad Walker and Joel Freeston. Grimsby are a much improved team since then and have made a number of signings to strengthen their team. Only goal difference separates the two teams with us having two games in hand due to our recent postponements. It is sure to be a great game with two in form teams facing off against each other. A repeat of last seasons home result when we ran out 4-1 would be welcome.
