A Brief History of Yate Town FC
Yate Town were originally formed in 1906 as Yate Rovers before becoming Yate YMCA in 1946 and played at local league level. In 1968 they became founder members of the Gloucestershire County League and changed their name to Yate Town in 1969. They joined Hellenic League Division One in 1983 and were promoted to the Premier Division in 1985. Yate Town were Hellenic League Champions in 1987/88 and again in 1988/89 before accepting promotion to the Southern League Southern Division for season 1989/90. They switched between the Southern, Midland and Western Divisions in the coming years but were relegated back to the Hellenic Premier Division in 2000. Yate soon returned to the Southern League after finishing runners-up in 2002/03 and another 2nd place finish in 2004/05 meant promotion to the Southern League Premier Division. After four seasons in the Premier Division they were relegated in 2008/09 to Division One South & West where they remain to this day. In 2012/13 Yate reached the 1st Round proper of the FA Cup where they were beaten 3-0 by Cheltenham Town. Last season saw Yate Town finish in 18th position.

Form Guide
Yate Town are having a mixed season so far and are currently 13th in the Evo-Stik League South – West (W5 D7 L7). They have achieved a few impressive results though including a 2-0 win over Swindon Supermarine, a 5-1 success at Slimbridge and perhaps the result of the season so far, an excellent 4-1 win at league leaders Taunton Town. Yate are unbeaten in their last five away games but have lost their last three home games coming into Saturday’s fixture.

It’s six games without defeat now for Bideford in all competitions although they will have been disappointed to have only taken a point at home to Shortwood United last week. Bideford are 5th in the league (W10 D3 L4), two points off second place but 15 points behind runaway leaders Taunton Town. Craig Duff and Billy Tucker are available again for selection as is Dan Harrison who has returned from injury. Ben Wood, Liam Gregory and Max Smallcombe are long term absentees. Sol Wheatley is back with the club after returning from America for a few weeks.

Earlier on in the campaign Bideford faced Yate at Lodge Road and came away with a hard fought 1-0 victory thanks to Craig Allan’s second half goal. Last season Bideford scored a league double over Yate winning 2-1 away thanks to goals from Billy Tucker and Chris McGrath, then beating them 2-0 at the Sports Ground with goals from Sean Downing and McGrath once again.
