The first of two consecutive away matches takes us on one of our longest journeys of the season. We've made the trip just once before losing a friendly 4-1 (Paul Kilroy scored our goal from a penalty) a day after a 4-3 win at Accle as part of an end of season tour in 2004.

We lost another friendly, this time a pre-season match at home in 2013, by 2-0 and rounded that off by losing the home league match this season by 3-2 eight days before Christmas. We have some ground to make up as we search for league points in what has become a nail biting period.

Ware dropped to one place above the relegation zone after Brentwood beat Wroxham in midweek, a win that also put Soham Town Rangers into the bottom three. A defeat at Norwich on Saturday plus a home victory for Soham (against Thurrock) would lift them level on points with us. Anything other than single goal margins in both such results would give the Cambridgeshire side a better goal difference than Ware. Yes, I'm afraid it's become that tight.

A look at the bottom of the table tells us that Great Wakering Rovers and Wroxham have a lot to do to avoid the drop. We have games against both of them still to play, Rovers at home and Wroxham in Norfolk, which might make it tight if they were lost but even so they have a lot of ground to make up on us.

Meanwhile suggestions that Soham have cut their budget more than once this season and have seen an exit of players cannot be used as an excuse for complacency. We need to start picking up points and Anwar is clear that the main way to achieve that is to avoid mistakes at the back.

To help achieve that the club has signed midfielder Tyrique Hyde (full name Tyrique Micah Hyde-Skerritt) on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge for the rest of the season and re-signed defender Lee White who made 28 consecutive appearances for the club at the start 2014/5 season before moving on.
