FC Romania are the fifth of six clubs new to us in this season's league programme with just Bedfont Sports to come after Saturday. The Wolves were only founded in 2006 but have made a steady rise since then, joining the Essex Senior League in 2013/4.
In five seasons they never finished lower than sixth and were third in each of the last three campaigns. That shouldn't have been enough to get promoted but as we know too well promotion and relegation can be affected when other clubs suddenly fold.
So the name Shaw Lane FC features large in our opponents' recent history. The Yorkshire club decided to withdraw from senior football at the end of last season leaving a gap to be filled. Although Shaw Lane had been at Step 3 the knock on effect saw FC Romania unexpectedly promoted to Step 4.
Naturally they have found life a little harder in the Bostik League and they are currently fourth from bottom but even so are just four points behind us.
A run of six scoreless games in September and October came to an end in a 4-1 defeat at home to Tooting & Mitcham. Since then the signing of Chiduben Onokwai seems to have made a difference. He has scored in three of their last four games.
Ware will be without Harry Norman who is on the second of his three match suspension whilst Charlie Yexley may still be injured. That suggests that Jack Daveney, who filled in well last week, will again take post on the right of the defence. Jason Brown has been absent through work commitments recently and unfortunately may be so again.
