Old rivalries are renewed this Saturday as the long anticipated return of the Launceston V Okehampton competitive first team fixture finally arrives. After years of differing directions of travel league wise, the two finally meet at level 6 for the first time. The last league encounter was in 1993 when Launceston won promotion from Western Counties West at the start of their ascent through the league structure.
After successive relegations Launceston have now settled for selecting local players ,and much like their hosts this weekend, will be relying on youth development for the player base in the years ahead. Many familiar faces to Launceston supporters will be turning out for their home club this weekend as they take on their old side. Messrs Friend, Langbridge, Trerise and Simmons can all expect a warm welcome!
Both sides have had a mixed start to the campaign although Oke's defeat last week sees them looking to get back to winning ways and a subsequent climb of the league table. A large crowd is expected as old rivalries and friendships will be renewed both on and off the pitch. Team news will appear here in the match centre later, but be sure to make your way to the Showground for what's sure to be a full blooded cracker of a derby this weekend. KO 3pm.
