Lookers sponsored South Shields Westoe travel to Medicals on Saturday, looking to spring back into winning ways after their draw versus Guisborough last week.
Medicals are currently sitting in eleventh place in the league, losing against Horden last weekend.
Westoe’s power should be enough to see them re-ignite their promotion hopes. Sitting in fourth spot, they need to win all their remaining games and hope that at least two of the top three falter along the way, which is very possible as the top sides have still to play each other before April.
Westoe’s pack needs to continue to dominate and ensure they don’t relax at any point to secure fast, clean ball for their dangerous back-line.
If they can continue to play high-tempo, direct and simple phases, the backs are a threat to anyone in the league; providing they can resist the temptation of the long looping passes that have cost them dearly so far this season.
Even on the rare occasion that these miss-two/miss-three, 30m bombs have hit the intended receiver, they have also allowed the entire defence to drift wide, closing down any room for the wingers to work with.
By trusting their power in the midfield and speed out wide, Westoe are capable of holding any defence and creating acres of space. Simple safe passing will give their speedy back three scoring opportunities.
The pack sees two changes with James Sant in at hooker and Joe McKenzie returning to the flank. The backline has Connor Pascoe at nine, Zach Clark returning to the centre and Mark McMahon back from injury on the wing.
