South Shields Westoe travel to Yorkshire side Whitby, looking to continue their growing form. Westoe won convincingly last Saturday and should be firm favourites for Saturday’s match.
Whitby are currently sitting at the foot of the table, yet to win a match since their promotion this year; however, Westoe need to remain vigilant and not take the home side too lightly as they may provide several upsets in form particularly at home.
Westoe make several changes to last week’s fifteen. Jamie Hughes switches to hooker from the back-row for Hayden Richards. They welcome back John Younghusband at lock, who completes a formidable front five capable of causing some concern to opposition packs.
The back-row sees a return of Sam Gaff after his head-injury protocol and Sean Ramsay switches from lock to complete the three.
The single change in the backs sees Jamie Preston return for last week’s man-of-the-match Louis Hagan.
Jack Blenkinsop starts from the bench, joined by speedster, Ross Macauley, with the final spot to be confirmed dependant on availabilities.
3.00pm KO - Whitby Rugby Club, White Leys Rd, Whitby YO21 3PB
Five weeks into the season and the first team have already blooded over thirty separate players, which bodes well for the development team who gained promotion to the CANDY League division 1 this year. They take on Percy Park at home this week and will be looking to turn around last week’s loss against Tynedale.
