Pre match team talk ahead of the Arlesey game

Saturday 18th April, KO 3pm Treyew Road.

Steve Tully reports today just about as full a squad as possible for tomorrow's game versus basement side Arlesey. As previously reported, it was hoped that Jamie Lowry (who is still contracted with us) would be joining us for the final few matches of the season. Sadly his father has just been taken ill and will now not be with us. River Allen is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained last week during the Corby game. I spoke to him after the game last week and he was absolutely gutted about the injury. He was really enjoying his football again and loved it at Truro. We wish him a speedy recovery.

A fully fit squad trained at Truro College last night and came through unscathed. Thus Steve Tully has a full squad to choose from for his side for tomorrow. Arlesey will be fighting for their lives tomorrow so we expect another tough game.

Steve Tully's matchday program notes are relayed below:

Good afternoon and welcome to Treyew Road for today's Southern Premier League fixture versus Arlesey Town.

We know today is going to be a tough game - when any team is fighting for their survival, it's always going to be a hard fought match.

As far as the play offs go, for myself and Wayne our WORK starts now in everything we do. Between now and the first play off, every decision will be relevant to ensure we have as many players, if not all, in tip-top condition ready to go. I'm obviously delighted we've got a home tie but whoever we play, it will be a tight contest.

The squad has grown as one over the season. It takes time to build a team, but since the turn of the year we've grown into a well organised and tough to beat team. Three losses in the last 23 games says it all. In my eyes, we are getting better every week and we will keep pushing to make sure this happens.

I have been delighted in the last three games in Redditch, Weymouth and Corby. With teams in the top six, we've come away with 9 huge points. What has pleased me the most is the way we've played. In all the games and in certain situations, we have learnt how to control games, how to chase games and when not to panic. We're growing and we're getting even better.

There are a lot of unsung heroes at Truro City who do a lot of work every match. Week in, week out, Eddy who serves the players food after every match and brings a cake on away travels, Steve Rogers for the excellent programme, photography, maintaining the website, Ron Ratchford for looking after the pitch which looks absolutely great at this time of the season and for my orange juice at half time, Ray Rowe for the meet and greet with officials and lastly, but not least, Ian Rennie who came in at a difficult time and has steadied the ship and done a great job. I've learned a lot from Ian as well so a big thank you from the players and staff - you all make a real difference.

Lastly the fans of the club - you've been superb both home and away. We will keep giving you something to cheer about thanks again.

Cheers Tulls
