It doesn't get any easier for MV as they welcome Aspatria to MacPherson Park after 2 heavy defeats to open the season. The Cumbrians arrive on the back of mixed fortunes following a narrow defeat at neighbouring rivals Wigton 27-26 and a close fought win over Bolton 40-33 at home.
MV captain Andy Quigley will be calling on his players to take a big step forward in defence and to work hard on ball retention as easily lost ball could prove costly. MV showed their attacking threat in last weekends defeat by Tarleton by picking up a losing point which nudged them ahead of Fleetwood at the foot of the table. Onwards and upwards !
MV look forward to welcoming the players and supporters of the Black and Reds to Trafford and with Aspatria being the home town club of mini / junior parent Steve Hanley (former Sale and England try scoring winger) there will sure to be plenty of back slapping and glass raining before and after the game.
MV's 2nd XV hit the road to Rossendale and MV will be looking to improve on their 9th position with a good performance over their 12th placed opponents.
The MV 3rd XV will be playing at home against opposition from Dukinfield RFC. MV sit in 7th position just ahead of the visitors who are currently in 9th position.
Saturday is also the final game of the Cricket season and our 1st XI will be playing at home with the 2nd XI playing away.
On Sunday our mini / junior teams will be congregating once more with lots of new faces to integrate at all age levels. We are actively looking to add numbers to our youngest 3-4 year old age groups who learn the basics of all sports with Linda and her team of coaches - running, jumping, catching, dodging are all among the wide range of sporting skills that our youngest players undertake.
We are also keen to encourage teenage boys who may have starting or will soon be starting rugby at school to come to MV and engage in our brilliant sport. Please spread the word and help us grow our mini / junior section.
Enjoy your weekends Rugby with Trafford MV
