Trafford MV welcome Hawcoat Park from Barrow in Furness to MacPherson Park for round 7 of the Lancs / Cumbria League 2017/18 campaign which has John 'Touche' Phillips as the Match Ball Sponsor. A recent improvement in form and fortune see's MV going into the home fixture as slight favourites but never kick a dog when it's down - Hawcoat Park will be full of fight and determination as they battle to climb off the bottom of the table. With 2 good wins and the benefit of a points deduction against Littleborough MV have jumped up to 11th place and now have a bit more bounce in their step going into games. Recent heavy rain will leave the pitch a little soft but this shouldn't hamper MV's backline which has a good combination of pace and power. The forwards will enjoy the cool moist conditions as they will compete for domination of set piece play and their dogged back row will certainly be in the hunt during broken play.
MV's 2nd XV, also 11th placed, despite not yet winning a game travel to mid table Oldham. The team are obviously struggling with not enough training players to get a sound team co-ordination. It is hoped the return of the Salford University lads will add a bit of pace and youthful vigour to the side which may sway fortunes MV's way in coming weeks.
It should be a good tussle on the 3rd XV pitch as North Manchester 2nd's visit MV. With MV 12th and North Manchester 11th there will not be a lot between the teams. Good off field spirit sits with the 3rd XV and this will turn into results as the seasons develops.
The games this weekend also feature key events at Trafford MV as we welcome back our Former Players Association for their Autumn Re-union. It is always a good turn out and a great atmosphere when this group get together to talk over Old Times and see how the Club has changed over the decades since many of those attending graced the 1st XV pitch at MacPherson Park.
We also welcome our Sponsors for the 2017/18 season to Thank them for their support and interest in the Club.
