Saturday's match between Nuneaton Town and Salford City features two teams in great form. The Boro' have taken seven of nine points since Gary Charles took over as Manager. Salford City have won three straight but only one in their last five away from home. Salford's most recent away game was a very dramatic affair, one in which they came back from 4-0 down, with 10 minutes to play, to salvage a 4-4 draw versus Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough.
Nuneaton are unbeaten in six at the LDJ Solicitors Stadium and have kept three clean sheets in the last five games there. The Boro' have suffered just one defeat in their past 13 matches overall, winning six of the last 10. Our recent record against Saturday's visitors does not make for pleasant reading. In the previous three meetings Salford have come out on top, without even conceding.
The most recent encounter was at Moor Lane in September 2017, where the hosts shot into an early 3-0 lead and the Boro' never recovered. That match was under the leadership of Tommy Wright and Charles' side look like a match more difficult proposition. In fact, there will likely be no fewer than seven changes to that starting 11 come Saturday, including Ashley Chambers, who only came off the bench that night as he was carrying a knock. The prolific striker returned to the score sheet on Tuesday with the winner against York City, it was his 19th in the league overall.
Jack Redshaw is top-scorer for the Ammies with 17 league goals, Anthony Dudley is second with 10. Salford boastost the second best away record in the division with 35 points from 18 games. There will be a few familiar faces amongst the Salford squad as Max Crocombe and Gus Mafuta return to Liberty way where they appeared for the Boro' back in 2015.
It will also be a reunion of sorts for George Green as he turned out eight times for the Ammies last season "I really enjoyed the time I spent there” said the former Burnley midfielder “The staff and players were class with me. A lot of things have changed since then, but I'm really looking forward to playing against them, and given our recent run of form I think it’s going to be a very good game. It will be good to see some familiar faces"
