Match Preview

Otley XV entertain Preston Grasshoppers this weekend, for their second home match of the season. The Saracens are away to Ripon.

Although early in the season and having only won one game this season, Preston Grasshoppers are one place above us in the league (12th versus 11th), having gained five bonus points already. Their win was at Lightfoot Green, against Fylde, with a score of 18-15. Their bonus points have been picked at away at Chester and Huddersfield, together with two at home against Sedgley Park.

Promoted from the Northern Premier after just one season, in the 2016-17 season it was the home side that took the honours. Otley won at Cross Green 20-18 and the Preston score was 30-5 (one of five victories that season for them).

Buoyed by their pack domination in the second half against Wharfedale last week, Otley return to Cross Green looking to get another win under their belts. Paul Petchey returns to the side, and Cameron Burnhill is on the right wing. George Burkinshaw is on the bench having played in the opening game against Fylde.
