The Brewers welcome Cleethorpes Town to the i2i Stadium on Saturday for the first home game of 2019. Taddy are without a win or a goal in their last three after a frustrating festive period whereas the travelling Owls are in fine form enjoying a six-game unbeaten streak.
Simon Collins’ side know that they created more than enough chances to beat both Pickering and Mansfield as well as at least getting a point at the leaders Morpeth on New Year’s Day but confidence seems to be low in front of goal of late.
Cleethorpes last tasted defeat on December 1st at Loughborough but have since beaten Morpeth, Spalding, Lincoln and Pontefract as well as drawing with Ossett and Frickley. A corner appears to have been turned after a woeful start to the 18/19 season as play-offs are now well and truly in their sights being just five points adrift.
Last Time Out: The Brewers travelled to the Linden Club for the first time in October knowing that they had never beaten the Owls, well that changed that day as goals from Billy Whitehouse, Harry Coates, Casey Stewart, Lamin Colley and Joe Lumsden saw Albion run riot, 1-5.
Ones To Watch: Strikers Joe Lumsden (Tadcaster) & Scott Vernon (Cleethorpes) have both netted 12 times this campaign, whoever is more clinical is likely to come out on top.
Team News: Michael Ingham (thumb) still out, a return in February is looking more likely. Josh Barrett (shoulder) out for several weeks after undergoing surgery this week.
