The 30-15 bonus point win against Bank of England secured promotion from Herts/Middx 1 last Saturday. Five tries, one conversion and a penalty were enough to complete the double over the team from Roehampton and improve on the one point winning margin earlier in the season.
As we welcome Actonians to Old Deer Park for the 20th round of league matches our sights are now set on ensuring promotion as champions and, assuming Royston pick up all five points at Hendon, a win on Saturday will be enough for the celebrations to start.
Eight wins and 14 bonus points mean that Actonians are currently 6th in the league, right in the middle of a group where just six points cover 4th to 8th places, and they travel to this game on the back of a 53-20 loss at Staines. Their previous four games saw mixed fortunes with healthy wins against Hendon (54-27) and Watford (40-3) preceded by relatively narrow loses against Bank (12-27) and Royston (15-21). Coached by Florent Rossigneux, former player at Wasps, Racing Club and, of course, here at London Welsh. Our teams met in November when a hat trick of tries for Chris Carns and one apiece for Cai Griffiths, Sam Mahoney and Freddie Clelland earned Welsh a 36-3 victory.
After this round of games the league goes on hold for a brief Easter break, returning to action on the 7th April when the 1st XV visit Royston. London Welsh Supporters Club will be running a coach to this game. For further information or to book a place please call 07900 411952 or email lwsc_email@yahoo.co.uk.
