Tuesday night, we travel to Chalfont to replay the fixture that was abandoned a few weeks ago. Rovers suffered their first defeat in nine league games on Saturday at Ashford. In their last six, Chalfont have picked up three wins and a draw, leaving them in sixteenth place.
Google maps lists the trip as just under an hour, however our good friends the M1 and M25 might have something to say about that. The seemingly best route to take is via the two motorways, exiting the M25 at Junction 17, now, slightly different from last time – to avoid the single track road - At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Denham Way/N Orbital Rd/A405, at the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Denham Way/N Orbital Rd/A412, in Maple Cross, at traffic light junction turn right onto Chalfont Rd, then take the first left onto Hornhill Rd, Hornhill Rd turns right and becomes Shire Ln after crossing the M25, the road takes a slight left becoming Rickmansworth Ln, at the end turn right onto Chesham Ln, then immediately turn left onto Rickmansworth Ln, emerge left onto Gravel Hill/A413, go to the roundabout and come back on yourself to get to the entrance to the ground. Use SL9 9QS on your satnav, which leads into the ground. There is a small car park at the ground that should be more the sufficient.
Chalfont have been in the division since 2011, having been promoted from the Spartan South Midlands League, apart from last season’s sixth place finish, they have mostly been a mid-table side. Back in December, Rovers won the reverse fixture by a single goal. At the time of the abandonment last month, Rovers were trailing two goals to one, Ash Fuller with the Kempston goal.
Ours is the only game on Tuesday evening, a win would draw Rovers level with fifth placed AFC Dunstable, who have a higher goal difference, on sixty seven points with three games to go.
