Tuesday sees Rovers host our good friends Chalfont St. Peter in the league. It’s the first time the two have met since Rovers comfortable 3-0 away win at the end of last season – a replay after the first match had been abandoned due to a serious injury to a Chalfont player and over an hour delay in waiting for an ambulance after the referee sought advice from the FA on the situation.

Last season’s home game with Chalfont was a narrower victory, by a single goal to nil, at a similar stage of the year on what was a bitterly cold night in early December. Chalfont were among six clubs whom Kempston took the maximum six points from last season and of those six, one of only two against whom Rovers kept two clean sheets – a hearty handshake to whoever can name the five other sides Kempston took six points from.

Chalfont actually helped to inspire the unofficial nickname that the club supporters adopted at the end of last season and has been taken on by the supporters club. For anyone keen to learn more about where #JustAPubTeam comes from, please feel free to search the news archives on Chalfont’s website for their match report from the rearranged game last April.

Chalfont arrive at Hillgrounds in twelfth place in the table having taken ten points from their last six games, including four draws and wins against Uxbridge and then AFC Dunstable at the weekend.

Rovers come into the game off the back of a much improved performance against Egham Town and will feel slightly aggrieved that they did not win the game with a late goal ruled out for offside. Alex Stoyles came off the bench for his first appearance in over two months, as well as Sam Johnson returning to action after limping from the field against Bedford Town. Luke Heneghan will be looking to shake off the knock he took at Northwood, while Rovers will almost certainly be without influential defender Grant Fryer after the defender was taken to hospital with concussion during the Egham Town game.
