Did you know… Fleet is probably most famous for its motorway service station, but the town dates back to 1759 when Isaac Taylor produced a ‘map of Hampshire’ showing three “habitations” in the area that we know as Fleet today. The name Fleet derives from the Norman-English La Flete, meaning shallow water, a reference to Fleet Pond, which served as a fishery for the monks at Winchester Cathedral in medieval times.

On this day in Rovers history… In 1979, Rovers recorded a resounding 5-0 victory against Eynesbury Rovers on this date, included in the line up that afternoon were the current chairman, Russell Shreeves and one of your favourite faces from behind the tea bar, Neil Kirkup.
