Tuesday the 28th of February sees the Daniels visit Nottingham to face Carlton Town for the second time this season. The first fixture between the two sides saw Stamford and Carlton deadlocked on a frosty night at Borderville with the final score being 1-1. That night Carlton took the lead through an Aaron Hooton penalty but a Grant Ryan header equalised on the 54th minute. This was the third meeting between the sides in a row where the Daniels have failed to get the victory.

Carlton have been in some good form of late getting good wins against Spalding (4-3) and Kidsgrove (0-2) and a cup victory against Teversal (2-0). They also got a very creditable (2-2) draw versus promotion pushing Newcastle. Their final result in the five game stretch was a (1-0) loss to Leek. In 2017 Carlton have had a fairly good run playing ten, with just three losses and five victories.

Stamford’s 2017 form has been heavily hit and miss with three wins, one draw and five losses. In this period they have had strong wins against Bedworth, Belper (away) and Chasetown but also poor losses such as the ones against Belper (home) and Market Drayton.

The meeting before last between the two sides led to the sacking of manager Andrew Wilson who was replaced by Graham Drury. Wilson lasted just ten games, seven of these being lost. The loss to, at the time, lower league Carlton was a 2-1 defeat at Carlton in the FA Trophy.
