This weekends forthcoming fixture against visitors Ellingham & Ringwood heralds the start of a new era at the Club, as long term Head Coach Eamonn Carey parted way from Sandown & Shanklin, following his second stint as Head Coach of the 1st XV.
The incoming Andrew John will reside in the role of Head Coach for the remainder of the season and he will look to build upon the fantastic result that the Hurricanes managed last time out at the Fairway. Two weeks ago, Sandown managed to set a few points straight, following their disappointing loss to local rivals the Isle of Wight the week previous they put in a team performance which would the visitors New Milton could not handle and would also avenge their away loss to New Milton earlier in the season, back in late 2016.
This weekend, Sandown & Shanklin will look to avenge another early season away loss to Ellingham & Ringwood. This fixture earlier in the season was marked by an under-strength and irregular 18 men travelling to the New Forest based side, however they put in a shift to make the game difficult for the long term rivals of the Hurricanes.
Saturday, Sandown will be able to call on most of their usual faces, apart from their long term injured. The impressive David Woolfenden is still recovering from his broken hand, and Captain Sam Rees is attempting to recover from his long term back injury which has kept him sidelined for a the past few weeks. Harrison Booth and Sam Branston look set to be involved in the 18 man squad this Saturday, after both missing the last fixture.
The Hurricanes let set to continue their impressive home form this season on Saturday, and we look forward to welcoming everyone down to the Clubhouse from 1300, with kick off from 1430.
