Morley are familiar opposition to Wirral having played them at the Memorial Ground as recently as last April when Keith Mahon set up Rob Pearl's late try to win the game 36-31.
Morley (known as the Maroons - kitman please note!) were formed in 1878 and were part of the Northern Union when it split and formed what was to become the other code - rugby league. However, the Morley representatives were in the pub when their train left Leeds for Huddersfield (where the 'split' meeting was held) so consequently continued to play union!
The Maroons haven't had the best of starts to this season losing to Lymm, Ilkley and Billingham but a draw against Sandal last week, where they were dominant in the scrum and line-out, demonstrated that the team are improving. With danger man Dante Van Der Merwe featuring at full back, Wirral should be wary of an opposition against whom they always have tight games. For their part Wirral will be keen to put last weeks loss at Lymm behind them and look to improve their position in the league.
