The Stags’ fifth home game in a row sees the Lancer Scott Stadium welcome local rivals Bishop Sutton, which seems like it’s going to be a passionate and fiery affair after the 2 sides met in the Somerset Cup just over 3 weeks ago.
The Stags will be looking to put on a positive show after the horror show against Devizes Town last weekend. Meanwhile Sutton have been in up and down form of late, winning 3 and losing 3 of their last 6 games with the latest result being a 1-0 home defeat to Westbury United.
Form
Backwell have only won 2 of their last 6 games, scoring 8 and conceding 17 with one of those wins did come against top of the league Keynsham Town and are looking to bounce back after Saturday’s result which we won’t mention again. The Stags currently sit 10th in the table with 21 points from 14 games and will be looking for all 3 points tomorrow to change the recent poorish run of results.
As mentioned above Sutton have won 3 and lost 3 of their previous 6, scoring 8 and conceding 9. They currently sit second from bottom in the table on 11 points from 16 games however current form suggests they are in a false position and will prove very hard opposition for The Stags tomorrow.
History
The pair have already met once this season, in the Somerset Cup. With Sutton beating The Stags by 2 goals to 1. However last season was a different story, with The Stags winning both derbies. 5-0 at home, and 4-1 at Lakeview.
