Eccleshill United return to action this Wednesday aiming to get back to winning ways after suffering back-to-back defeats against the NCEL Premier League’s other newly promoted sides, Yorkshire Amateurs and Knaresborough Town.
However, it will certainly be another difficult test as the Eagles welcome experienced side, Staveley Miners Welfare to the Mitton Group Stadium. With just one place and one point separating the two teams, it should be a well-matched encounter which both teams will be aiming to win.
Sean Regan trialed a brand new formation on Saturday and could look to do the same again this time around, with the three experienced central defenders in Matt Mathers, Aran Basi, and Sam Bradley all offering plenty of cover at the back.
The Eagles will be boosted by the return of Luke Harrop to the squad for this encounter, the clubs top scorer for the past two seasons will be hoping to continue that record and after finding the back of the net in his last performance, the confidence will be high in the attacker.
With pacey wingers such as Khuram Shazzad and Jake Thompson both aiming to continue their impressive starts to the season as well as several new players joining the club aiming to stake their place in the team, Regan will likely have a tough time when it comes to selecting his starting line-up.
The visitors come into the game with a very impressive defensive record, having conceded only three times so far this season, meaning Eccleshill will need to work hard to unlock the Staveley back four.
Staveley will be looking forward to focusing on league action once again after spending the majority of September playing cup football, with only one NCEL Premier League game in the entire month.
With both teams looking to kickstart a run of form that would see them climb up the league table, it is set to be an important clash early in the season.
