After the festive break Old Gs return to league action on Saturday with a tough away fixture at Greenwich. Going into the fixture with an unbeaten record the side will be looking to make it 13 wins from 13 in the league when they travel to South East London. Despite a comprehensive victory in the return fixture earlier in the season the Old Boys know that they will need to hit the ground running in 2017 and be on the top of their game to secure the required 5 points to maintain the promotion push.
In regards to selection, Old Gs blossoming strength in depth is highlighted, with a number of players unlucky to miss out on making the 18 strong match day squad. The majority of the side that featured against Faversham before Christmas retain their places. Brett Buckingham, Matt Johnson and Noel Hartley form the front row. The regular 2nd row partnership again features with Frazer Barnes and Andy Morris having a cuddle in the engine room. Matt Coomber and Jack Nash are again in the back row where they are joined by Steve Hurdle, who deservedly makes his full 1st team debut.
Mike Hodge and Matt Holdstock form the half backs, with ever present centres Ricky Harding and Matt Thompson outside them. The back 3 is once again formed of Chris Johnson, leading try scorer James Hood and experienced full back Dave Boyer.
The replacements are Paul Mitchell, Steve Millar and Ryan Lockyer. Kick off is at 2pm and all support is welcome.
