It is fair to say that Consett probably did enough to get the win last week in terms of their performance, however only the score board matters at the end of the day and it did not make pleasant reading. This week bring a new challenge as Consett host Barnard Castle at Amethyst Park this Saturday, kicking off at 2:15pm. Barnard Castle have had an excellent season so far, surpassing almost everyone's expectations bar their own. With Barney sitting 3rd in the table after a comfortable 29-8 win last week over Hartlepool, and Barney claiming the spoils over Consett earlier in the season, this will be a tough task for Andy Howells' side.
Changes to the starting line up include a starting place for Ricky Grey at 7, following an outstanding half of rugby against Stockton last weekend. This change moves Gareth Henderson to 6 and sees Chris Gray move into second row with Chris Urwin moving to the bench. There is a re-shuffle in the backs with Connor Gates moving to inside centre and Haydn Petch dropping to full back. James Wheeler made an impressive start to his stint at Consett and his powerful running has seen him move to outside centre. John Kelly comes in on the bench after a lay off due to injury.
A win against a strong Barnard Castle side would be an excellent confidence booster for the young Consett team. Your support is invaluable so get along to Amethyst Park for 2:15pm and cheer the lads on.
