One of the greatest games at Terrace Road

Football is the winner today with a 10 goal thriller as Ellistown went toe to toe with League favourites Allexton & New Parks who celebrated a 6-4 victory like they had won the FA Cup.

With Manager, Ash Forsyth being called into action as an emergency goalkeeper and Asst-Player Manager Joe French also on the pitch, it was left to Adam Ward and Chairman Andy Roach to direct operations from the dug-out.

The game started as you would expect with Allexton in control and giving Ash plenty of action in goal.

Then on 10 minutes, the game exploded as Ellistown went bang, bang and scored 2 goals in a minute. The 1st on 10 mins was also the 1st of many for striker Bobby Watson who tapped home after a clinical counterattack.

EFC 1 -0 ANP 10 mins

Town doubled the lead a minute later as Ollie Evans chased down the defender and nicked possession. he then calmly looked up and centered the ball for Haydn Brown to score.

EFC 2-0 ANP 11 mins

Ellistown had poked the bear and ANP responded 2 minutes later through a neat finish of Town old boy Zak Adams.

EFC 2-1 ANP 13 mins

A mad 3 minutes that brought Town into the game and gave Allexton plenty to ponder about.

With Town looking dangerous in attack and Fran Blake controlling midfield, things were looking good, but Allexton are a good side and they proved it on 25 mins when Brandon Jarrett equalised with a bullet header from a corner.

EFC 2-2 ANP 25 mins

Would our heads go down, not this side as we went toe to toe and took the lead on 36 mins through a 2nd from Bobby Watson.

EFC 3-2 ANP 36 mins

Town for the 2nd time of a crazy 1st half, reinstated a 2 goal lead on 43 mins through a 30 yarder from James Warren.

EFC 4-2 ANP 43 mins

Crucially for town, ANP scored their 3rd straight from the kick-off through Jake Wain.

EFC 4-3 ANP 44 mins.

With the neutrals loving it and both sets of fans going through a roller coaster of emotions, the ref blew for half-time.

EFC 4-3 ANP HT

With projected scores of 7-6, 7-8, 9-9 the 2nd half kicked off with Town determined to hang on to their lead and if it were not for a debatable decision to disallow a Haydn Brown goal when he nicked the ball from ex-Town keeper Ellis Marsden then town would have been leading 5-3 and in control.

With great leadership shown by Cade Chadwick and Michael Hills at the back who were supported by Ethan Fox, James Warren and Jack Cook at the back and man of the match George Houghton-Clarke in midfield who harassed Allexton all game then provided we could keep ex-town winger\forward and at times vocal comedian Zak Adams quiet then we had a better than even chance of getting the 3 points.

The game changed on 65 mins when Allexton substitute Quentin Thompson levelled with a neat finish.

EFC 4-4 ANP 65 mins

The next goal was crucial and both teams went for it which led to great attacking play and last ditch defending. Unfortunately, the next goal went to Allexton on 75 mins through another substitute Thabo Markombe.

EFC 4-5 ANP 75 mins

With passions running high, tackles started to fly and credit to Town they never backed down and proved the team had steel.

Zak Adams showing the skills more suited to step 5, made the game safe for Allexton on 89 mins.

EFC 4-6 ANP 89 mins

Down but not out, Town went for the 5th, but time run out on a classic game of football with the final score of.

EFC 4-6 ANP FT

Summary

Credit to both teams who put on a show and Town should be proud of their performance against the league favourites.

We showed fight, passion, and ability to finish while not backing down from a challenge, traits we need to take to Asfordby next week who are taking the league by storm.

Well done boys
