A seven star performance from Thurnby put Ellistown to the sword and confirmed the gap between the top and bottom is bigger than we expected.
Thurnby are the best team we have played this season and are a class act. We could not cope with them and while we contributed at times to our own downfall the 7-0 score line could have been worse without some fine saves that included another penalty save from Austin Parish.
Long term this result will not change the journey Town are on and has given our management team more food for thought for pre-season.
You learn more from defeat then victory.
Positives today was another good performance from young goalkeeper Austin Parish and if Fran Blake's 25 yard block buster had gone in and not hit the post at 0-0, then it would have been interesting. We also had an excellent debut from Dylan Fox therefore ensuring our teenagers can hold their heads high. We know these lads will enjoy next season.
Around them, we never gave up but goals at regular periods throughout the game meant we were always chasing.
3-0 at Half-Time became 7-0 at Full-time.

Summary
We will take this defeat on the chin and for Marley Spencer he did, and we hope he is ok following an accidental collision at the end of the game. Credit to the Thurnby player for making sure Marley was ok.
We also have the opportunity to get revenge on Wednesday night as Thurnby visit Terrace Road for the return fixture.
