Today proved doing the right thing ends up being the wrong thing.
We could have taken the easy option today and fallen back on our waterlogged pitch at Terrace Road and had a Saturday off but we wanted to play football and with Desford's agreement moved the game to South Charnwood 3G.
Not for the 1st time this season, our decision to do the right thing back fired as a fired up Desford took all 3 points in a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Our cause was not helped by gifting Desford both goals on 10 and 47 mins. You could see Desford approach of getting in the faces of our young side worked and credit to them. They are 2nd in the table for a reason.
As for town, we huffed and puffed but could not break down the Desford defence.
Back to the drawing board for Town while Desford, enjoy your weekend derby win.

Summary
This time last year, Ellistown FC were on its knees and the whipping boys of the league. There was a serious risk we would fold at Christmas. That risk re-surfaced in the close season when discussions took place with the League to resign our Senior League place. Now we are in the top 4 and while recent results are disappointing, we have tasted top spot and considering where we come from, we are in a good place.
The ground with a few minor tweaks meets Step 6 ground grading and we are looking forward to working with Leicester City Turf Academy to implement the Football Foundation funded Pitch Improvement Program.
Our decision at the start of the season to go all out to compete for the top prize has taken some deserved and in many cases undeserved flack and with the top prize now out of reach, our season may not be over as you never know how the FA will manage step 6 promotions.
We have a talented young bunch of lads who are learning and an experienced management team who have been round the block a number of times.
We go again next Saturday away at Thurnby and next time, doing the wrong thing will be the right thing.
