It took 86 mins for the goal machine to score

A performance full of spirit and commitment was not enough as Stapenhill took the chances on offer to run out comfortable 3-0 winners.

The game started with everyone wondering if Steve "the Goal Machine" Hart could score the 4 goals he needed to reach 50 for the season.

It was clear from the first 20 minutes Stapenhill would have to work hard as Ellistown And Ibstock Utd chased every ball and defended in numbers to make life difficult for our free scoring opponents.

While some great Goalkeeping from James Knowles kept us in the game, we looked dangerous on the break but could not carve out a clear chance.

Stapenhill broke our hearts on 43 mins when a Steve Dennahy cross was headed in by Jamie Disney.

EIBS 0-1 St 43 Mins

This ensured Stapenhill went into half-time with a slender lead.

EIBS 0-1 St HT

The 2nd half saw Stapenhill go through the gears and credit to the lads we managed to stay with them but could not create chances our play deserved.

Ashley Garner doubled Stapenhill's lead on 50 mins when he slammed home to make it.

EIBS 0-2 St 50 mins

The question now was how many more could Stapenhill score and the answer was 1 when Steve "the goal machine" Hart scored his 47th league goal of the season on 87 mins.

EIBS 0-3 St 87 mins.

This made the final score.

EIBS 0-3 St

Credit to the lads who pushed Stapenhill all the way and never gave up.

Unless the FA intervene, this result relegated the club but we will continue to try and win our 1st game of the season next Saturday away at Radford,
