Coming into the game on back of a great 3-0 Beacon Bitter Cup victory v Hathern, Town were looking to move up the Senior League table with a win over Cottesmore Amateurs.
Storm Brian soon put a stop to that as the wind and driving rain ensured both teams in the 1st half were unable to play any type of football as the ball followed the wind. Credit goes to players of both teams who never gave up trying to play football.
EFC 0-0 CA HT
The second half followed same pattern as the 1st with the Wind dictating play. Ellistown took the lead on 60 mins when a cross into the box was diverted into his own goal by Ben Richards.
EFC 1-0 CA 60 mins
It took 5 minutes for Cottesmore to draw level as a slick passing move allowed Jordan Smith to finish from inside the box.
EFC 1-1 CA 65 mins
With chances at a premium and both sides unable to move the ball forward more then 10 yards, Town had a great chance to win the game on 80 minutes when clean through and with time to spare, Korey Thompson hit the goalkeeper when he should have scored.
Cottesmore could and perhaps should have won the game with the final kick as the centre forward missed an open goal from 3 yards out.
A goal at this time would have been hard on either team as the draw was the correct and fair result.
EFC 1-1 CA FT
Summary
Well done lads for sticking to your principles and trying to play football in impossible conditions.
The point moves town up to 13th place and in good shape for Saturday's away game at Hathern.
