Great day for everyone connected to Ellistown FC

Morning results saw FFA Ellistown win all 3 age group games and in the afternoon, Ellistown FC completing a great day with their biggest victory since April 2015 beating Asfordby 5-1.

Roared on by the FFA Ellistown lads who were a credit to the club and the biggest crowd in a long while, Ellistown froze for the 1st 10 minutes and let Asfordby dictate play.

Therefore it was no surprise that Asfordby took the lead on 10 mins when Matthew Lowe slotted home.

EFC 0-1 AFC 10 mins

With Caleb Taylor trying to get his defence into shape and Asfordby sensing a 1st win of the season, Town dug in while we tried to get our flowing football going.

Slowly with brothers, Jake and John Mclouglin and Isaac Lakin gaining control of the midfield, Arron Windram, Elliott Burton and Zak Adams linking up in attack we were starting to over power Asfordby who by 30 mins could have been 2 or 3 up and surprisingly were beginning to tire.

Our fast flowing football clicked on stoke of half-time when a fast break that started with our goalkeeper Warwick Miller playing the ball out of defence, ended up with Zak Adams slotting home a cross into an empty net.

EFC 1-1 AFC 45 mins and HT

With Caleb Taylor, Ben Saunders, Luke Haberman and Charlie Grewcock now in control of our defence, there was only going to be one winner.

Town proceeded to tear Asfordby apart at the start of the 2nd half and Zak Adams scored his and our 2nd on 47 mins as he danced through the defence and round the goalkeeper to score.

EFC 2-1 AFC 47 mins

The FFA Ellistown lads were now in full voice on the terraces and they were celebrating history on 52 mins as Zak Adams scored a 7 minute hat-trick, the fastest in Ellistown's history.

EFC 3-1 AFC 52 mins

While Asfordby had chances, our fast moving passing football was causing them all kinds of problems and it was an out-paced defender who clipped Aaron Windram's heels in the box that allows Joe Mcloughlin to score a debut goal on 60 mins from the penalty box.

EFC 4-1 AFC 60 mins

4 goals in 15 mins ensured Ellistown were able to control the game and hit Asfordby on the break. Credit to the away team who never gave up and had chances to get themselves in the game.

I n the end, it was a defensive error on 85 mins that put Joe Mcloughlin through on goal and he made no mistake.

EFC 5-1 AFC 85 mins.

It was very nearly six soon after as Isaac Lakin's outrageous chip shot from 30 years went only inches wide.

The final whistle went with the chairman smiling from ear to ear and a final score of.

Ellistown 5 Asfordby 1

Summary

A great team effort from everyone connected to Ellistown FC. Starting with FFA Ellistown winning the morning games, supporting the 1st team and parading trophies at half-time. Our crowd getting behind the team when things were not going our way and the committee for putting in the hours so everyone could enjoy the day and finally the team who were fantastic.

We travel to top of the table Thurnby Rangers next week knowing we can beat them.
