For the 2nd consecutive week, Town were ripped apart and based on 1st half performance were lucky to only lose 5-0.
In our defence!!!!, we had players playing out of position and 3 players making debuts and one of those our goalkeeper Sam Boschi only finding out he was playing at 2pm.
Therefore, it was no surprise that Town could find no rhythm, but that was no excuse for poor ball play that left our most dangerous player Zak Adams isolated on the wing. When Zak got the ball, we looked dangerous on the break as he tore the Hathern defence apart.
Hathern took advantage of our disjointed play and ripped us apart in the 1st half , scoring 4 goals in the first 40 minutes through Ryan Langdon (13, 19) and Matt Jelly (32, 39).
Our cause was not helped on 42 mins when Zak Adams received a straight red card for retaliating against a leg stamp. This was not Town's day and we went into half-time knowing that a double digit defeat could be on the cards.
HFC 4-0 EFC HT
Sensible changes were made at half-time to protect players and credit to the lads, we gave Hathern a game in the 2nd half. Our defence was solid and special mention goes to our Goalkeeper Sam Boschi who had a difficult 1st half, he never went hiding and made a number of great saves.
Our midfield started to gel and with Joe Mcloughlin pulling the strings and Kai Smalley up-front giving the Hathern defenders something to think about.
With a man down, we were always at risk of conceding but we stuck at it and it took Hathern 45 minutes to score the 5th through Liam Walton.

Summary
2 consecutive defeats does not make Ellistown a bad team. Yes, we have a lot to work on but we will get it right.
