New Parks Battle Back For A Point

On a day that both clubs remembered Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, Nursara Suknamai, Kaveporn Punpare, Izabela Roza Lechowicz, Eric Swaffer and those who made the ultimate sacrifice with a moving 2 minute silence, it was perhaps no surprise that there was no winner as both sides fought out a 2-2 draw.

On the balance of play a draw was a fair result and another lesson for this young Ellistown side who again could not hold on to a 2-0 lead.

In windy conditions that made passing football difficult, it was a set play that broke the deadlock on 17 mins with Dan Martin heading home a free kick.

EFC 1-0 ANP 17 mins

Stats will show that Allexton where having the majority of play but they could not break down an Ellistown defence well marshalled by debut Goalkeeper Alex Engner and part-time central defender Mason Penny.

Town's second on 39 mins came from an Allexton error as a back-pass fell short and Tom Antill nipped in to fire a 35 yarder past Allexton's Regan Lelacheur.

EFC 2-0 ANP 39 mins

Only Allexton's centre forward will know how he missed an open goal on the stroke of half-time.

2nd half should have been all about game management for Town but this is a young side learning their trade and not yet streetwise enough to slow a game down.

With nothing to lose, Allexton come out of the blocks and went for Town and only some fantastic saves from Alex Engner stopped them from scoring before the 67th when a defensive error let in substitute Connor Burrowns who finished with a low shot across the goalkeeper.

EFC 2-1 ANP 67 mins

Town had a couple of half chances to win the game but it was Allexton who looked likely to score again and that was the case on 83 mins when Kane Dilkes headed in a corner on 83 minutes.

EFC 2-2 ANP 83 mins

Both sides then went for the win but could not fashion the winning 3rd game and the final whistle went with the final score.

Town need to learn how to close out a game but the kids are learning and we are not far away from being a top 4 side.
