Saturday 8th December - FC Khalsa 7-2 Ellistown FC
Saturday 6th April - Ellistown 3-1 FC Khalsa
Above stat confirms how far Ellistown have come in the last couple of months as we turn our season around.
This was the total performance as Ellistown raced into a 2 goal lead and then defended a FC Khalsa come back and then won the game with the 3rd goal on the break.
Every player contributed to the victory and they all deserved the man of match awards.
We knew FC Khalsa are a good team and it was key we got into them straight from the kick-off. With our attacking formation, we did this by hitting them with the pace of Kai Smalley and Isaac Lakin upfront and Kai will be kicking himself as he missed an early one on one chance. More about Kai later.
Credit goes to Isaac and all the players who were asked to play out of position. You could not tell.
We deservedly took the lead on 20 mins when Chris Nettles stroked home from 20 yards.

With Sam Boschi keeping his back 3 of Declan Grewcock, Aaron Windram and Harry Hayden (2nd half Jack Poxon) on their toes, our only concern was could Sam play the game on 1 leg as his knee injury was causing major discomfort. Credit to Sam, he went through the pain barrier and made game saving saves in the 2nd half. Samuele is our Dino Zoff.
We doubled our lead on 30 mins when Kai Smalley made no mistake slotting the ball into an empty net after Town had gone through Khalsa's defence like a knife through butter.
EFC 2-0 FCK 30 mins
Game management now came into play as Captain Chris Nettles and Adam Poxon settled the side down and ensured we kept shape and frustrated Khalsa, while we should have extended our lead.
Khalsa got back into the game with the best goal by an opposition side this season. From 30 yards out, Nyle Patel took aim and curled the ball into the back of the net that no goalkeeper could have stopped. Well done Nyle.

That goal gave Khalsa confidence and they finished the half on top.
EFC 2-1 FCK HT
Khalsa started the 2nd half on top and battered Ellistown but were unable to score the vital 2nd goal. This was due to some brilliant defending from every outfield town player, vital saves from Sam Boschi and the crossbar.
While this was going on, our outlet ball over the top of the Khalsa defence was giving our front 2 enough to work on and we knew a breakway goal was a real possibility. Credit to Dan Martin and Luke Croshaw who kept the supply line flowing for Isaac and Kai.
Possibility turned into fact on 81 minutes when a breakway left Kai Smalley in another one on one with the goalkeeper. Unlike the 1st chance, Kai took his time, weighed up this options and calmly scored. Kai has a great future in the game and is one to watch.
EFC 3-1 FCK 81 mins
With Khalsa getting more desperate, town had enough chances to make the scoreline one of the results of the season.
The final whistle went with the final score of.
EFC 3-1 FCK FT
This was our best performance of the season and we deserved this win against a very good FC Khalsa side. Well done guys.
