Town coast to victory

Town's good form continued as they brushed aside a determined Fleckney side 5-1 to make it 11-2 over the last 2 games and 15 mins.

Town took control of the game straight from the kick-off and went into the lead on 5 mins when Aaron Windram curled in a beauty from edge of the penalty box.

That lead was soon doubled on 10 mins, when a goalkeeper clearance fell at the feet of Danny Turner who had time to roll the ball into empty net.

EFC 2-0 FAFC 10 mins

Fleckney found themselves in a position that Town have been in on plenty of occasions and credit to them, they regrouped and defended as a unit while struggling to break out down a resolute defense marshalled by Captain, Leader, Legend Chris Nettles.

It was key that Town continued the pressure as a 2-0 lead is a dangerous one to defend and through a man of match midfield performance from George Wesley ensured there was enough service to our wingers, Jacob Stevenson and Ben Warren to create chances to put the game to bed long before Jacob scored the 3rd with a neat finish into the box on 42 mins.

EFC 3-0 FAFC 43 mins

It was clear Town were in control and credit to midfielders Aaron Windram and Ollie Cox who done the dirty unseen work in recovering balls, chasing down, and starting attacks.

The half-time whistle went with Town knowing they have had a good half, but the game was not over.

Would a Fleckney side with a couple of half-time changes make it difficult for town. Yes, they did but could not threaten and that released our full-backs, Ashley Riddell and James Warren who had the license to come forward, knowing we had enough cover from our ball playing defender Adam Poxon.

Chances came at regular periods, but we needed an own goal from Ryan Ashton on 60 mins to finish the game as a contest.

EFC 4-0 FAFC 60 mins

Credit to the Fleckney Goalkeeper, Adam Woods who after a shaky start made some fine saves. At the other end, Kelby Tyers was secure in everything he had to do.

Fleckney got the goal they deserved on 87 mins when a defensive error gave Ryan Ashton a clear run at goal, and he made no mistake.

EFC 4-1 FAFC 87 mins

That goal hurt Town and they went straight up the pitch and with Tom Antill causing havoc in the Pen Box, the ball fell to Captain, Leader, Legend Chris Nettles who tapped in from 2 yards.

EFC 5-1 FAFC 88 mins

We then went hunting for the 6th but time beat us to make the final score.

A rare comfortable victory and professional performance by the lads and its 7 pts out of 9 that ensures we can look upwards and focus on the league cup. Please give us more comfortable victories.

With Allexton New Parks opening up a title race with the win at Rugby, we now have Title\Relegation battles and on this performance, Fleckney have a good chance of pulling off the great escape.
