Last year Worcester failed to fulfill this fixture, ringing up late on the day of the match to say they weren't coming because they thought it might snow, leaving Evesham's players to kick their heels pitchside.
At least this year they showed up, bringing a strong team that soon took a deserved 1-0 lead thanks to excellent support play, handling and off-loading. However, Evesham are notoriously slow starters and they soon began to find their rhythm, taking, if not a grip, then at least a fingerhold on the match with tries from the excellent Oli A at scrum-half and from Django seeing them into a worthy 2-1 lead.
Worcester pulled a try back to level the scores, but then came the defining moment. As the match briefly stopped for an injury after about 20 minutes, the visitors decided that was to be the last action, claiming that the pitch was too hard for play to continue. So off we all trooped with frustration leading to what news reporters refer to as "frank exchanges."
