This week saw a weak team make the short journey to top of the league Broughton.
With so many players injured and on holiday we struggled to get a team out. By Thursday night the team was made up of 8 players however by Saturday morning the team managed to put out a full 15.
All players stood up to the mark and played some very good rugby. Broughton on their home ground are hard to beat but the Oldham side tried everything they could to disrupt Broughton’s winning streak.
Stand in captain Martin Meggison got the only Oldham points of the game with a superb penalty from the half way line.
Injury to front row forward, Steve Kennedy saw Oldham struggle to get a grip of the game and Broughton took advantage.
The final score was Broughton 24 v Oldham 3.
Once Oldham can put a full squad out there is no doubt they will be a formidable force, and we look forward to the return fixture later in the season.
Oldham Man of the match went to Martin Meggison.
