The final scoreline in favour of the visitors, Broughton, somewhat flattered them.
Oldham took the lead with an early try from Louis Fitton and a penalty by Keith Chaddwick but they soon found themselves behind with two quick tries from Broughton who went into half time 12-8 up.
Oldham took the lead again with an unconverted try by Ryan Barker but Broughton replied with a converted try.
For large parts of the game Oldham had more territory and possession and even though 17-13 down it was anybodies game but a mistake in midfield 15 minutes from the end saw an interception try from Broughton clinch the decisive score.
Greater experience from the visitors was also apparent throughout the game and this quality from them eventually swung the balance in their favour.
Final score: Oldham 3rds 13 v Broughton 1st 24
A wholehearted display from the pack especially from Chaddwick, Pete Hilton and Sean Barratt, who were tireless in their efforts. This was matched by a hard running and Industrious performance from the back line. Louis Fitton was narrowly piped for the MOM award due to an outstanding full back display from Ryan Barker.
