The first phase of NWCFL Premier Division fixtures were announced on Saturday 5th July 2025, with Abbey Hey also finding out our FA Cup and FA Vase yesterday. We also have a bunch of pre-season fixtures coming up in July to get the lads ready for the new season.

Today (05/07/25) we face Maine Road at Wright Robinson College in our first pre-season game. Maine Road are a very familiar face from our time in the NWCFL First Division South, and opened their pre-season on Wednesday with a 3-2 loss against Denton Town.

After today, we have a run of home fixtures at The Abbey Stadium. Tuesday 8th July at 7:45pm will see us welcome Hyde United of the Northern Premier League Premier Division (7th tier), which will be a tough test for Abbey. We will face a Stephen Ireland Premier League XI on Thursday 10th at 7:45pm. The ex-professionals will provide another big challenge for the lads and will be a great chance for our fans to see stars of the past play on the Abbey turf.

Saturday 12th July will see us welcome Manchester League Premier Division side Tintwistle Athletic. Tuesday 15th July will see our annual John Harvey Trophy memorial game against Glossop North End. Last season saw us pick up the trophy with a 2-1 away win at the Asgard Engineering Stadium. We then face a newly reformed Flixton on Saturday 19th July, once again at home. Pre-season ends with a trip to 8th tier 1874 Northwich on Tuesday 22nd July.

Our second season back in the North West Counties Premier Division starts with a trip to Burscough on Saturday 26th July. Burscough finished in 11th last season, just above Abbey Hey but Abbey came out victors both times across the season with two 2-1 wins. Our first home league game is on Tuesday 29th July, facing Stockport Town. Abbey fans will have great memories of facing Stockport Town after our penalty shootout playoff win against them which saw us return to the Premier Division in 2024.

In a repeat of last season's FA Cup extra preliminary round, Abbey Hey will face AFC Liverpool. We narrowly lost out last season with a 2-1 loss in Crosby, but we have form for famous cup results against AFC. A win on penalties against AFC Liverpool in 2022 saw us progress to the last 16 of the FA Vase for the first time with some incredible scenes at fulltime.

We'll face Pilkington away on the 9th and Ramsbottom United at home on the 12th before we face Doncaster City in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase. The club formed in 2022 won promotion to the Northern Counties East League Division one at the end of 2025 and will compete in the FA Vase for the very first time in their history when they visit The Abbey Stadium on Saturday 23rd August.

Bank Holiday Monday on the 25th will see us welcome Glossop North End at 3pm, before we travel to Charnock Richard on Saturday 30th to finish off August. As you can see, we've got an incredibly busy start of the season with a lot of home games. We appreciate the support as always and can't wait to welcome you to The Abbey Stadium!
