Abbey Vale finally got their first points of the season thanks to a convincing 3-0 win over Heston Rovers.
We started brightly and with only 5 minutes on the clock, McCormack had a diagonal shot which went narrowly past the far post. We continued to press and in the 18th minute we came close again. Harnden passed the ball to Ogston. With his back to goal he laid it off for Milligan but his shot went just over the bar. Rovers were offering little up front and were reduced to shots from distance but they failed to trouble keeper Johnston. Another chance came and went for us when Cameron's effort in the 37th minute sailed over the bar.

The 2nd half was only 2 minutes old when we took the lead. A cross from the right wasn't cleared by the Heston defence and McCormack beat the keeper to the ball to score off the post. 3 minutes later we got our second goal. A McCormack free kick on the left was headed home by Cameron. For the next 10 minutes or so Heston came more into the game and we had to defend well to keep them out. With 81 minutes gone we lost Cameron to a 2nd booking as he threw the ball down to the ground when Heston were awarded athrow in which he felt was Vales. A minute later, Heston's Miller saw red. He conceded a free kick nad must have said something to the ref as he was shown a straight red. Our 3rd goal came with virtually the last kick of the match. Milligan collected a cross field pass out on then right. He made for the byline before cutting in and beating 2 defenders before squaring to player/manager Stenton who fired home from 10 yards.

A first win for the club which gives the whole place a lift. With no failures in the side it was difficult to name a MOM but the award went to Finlay Thomson at right back who had bombed up and down the flanks as well as being part of a solid back four.
