Abbey Vale travelled to the North West Community Campus to play Nithsdale Wanderers in a League game. The game was switched from Lorimer Park in Sanquhar as their pit h was waterlogged.
Vale started the game on the front foot and Aiden Kerr rounded the keeper in the third minute to open the scoring and give Vale an early lead. Despite creating chances, nether side really tested the keepers and so the first half ended 1-0 to the Vale.
Vale kicked off the second half and threatened to increase their lead but it was Nithsdale who scored to bring the sides level. Vale came under pressure for a spell but our keeper wasn't threatened too much. Then Dan Thom scored his first of the game to put Vale in front again when he forced the ball home during a scramble in Nithsdale's area. Vale increased their lead when they were awarded a penalty when Dan Thom was fouled in the area. Up stepped Lewis McKenna to slot the ball home and put Vale 3-1 up. Substutute Kieran Pirrie increased Vale's lead when he headed home at the back post. However a few minutes later Nithsdale scored again to bring them back into the game. Dan Thom then scored his second and Vale's fifth goal with a wonderful 30 yard strike. There was time left for Dan to complete his hattrick when scored from a Pirrie cross to complete the scoring on the day.

A good win for the Vale with a better 2nd half performance and with a few players missing. Weather permitting, Vale are at home to Stranraer in the league next Saturday before another home game against East Kilbride in the Regional Cup.
