Vale Continue Their Winning Ways With Victory At Moffat

Yesterdays result away to Upper Annandale Football Club was a 5-0 win in the Alba Cup Round 1.

With both teams playing in a sweltering heat, few chances were created in the opening quarter of the match. In the 39th minute, Steven Couper got past the full back and cut the ball back to Dan Thom who coolly opened the scoring for Vale with a tidy finish. A minute later, Couper doubled the lead with a cracking left foot drive into the far corner. in the 44th minute, after more good work on the wing, Callum Summerbee rifled a shot into the back of the net from 25 yards to give Vale 3-0 halftime lead.

The second half began with Vale making most of the play but failed to take their chances when they came. Uppers began to get a bit of control and Vale had to defend strongly to keep the home team out. But Vale were looking dangerous on the counter-attack and in the 67th minute the Vale pressure paid off when Aiden Kerr made it 4-0 to the Vale. This took a bit of the fight out of Uppers but they occasionally looked dangerous. On one occasion I felt Uppers were gong to score when a ferocious drive looked to be heading into the top corner of Vale's goal but keeper Taylor Hall pulled off a magnificent save. In the 77th minute, substitute Max Hughes rounded off the scoring with a fine finish to make it 5-0 and there was no comeback for the hosts.

At the final whistle the score remained at 5-0 to the Vale and they now progress to the semi final.

A very good performance from the Vale who had made a few changes to the starting eleven from the previous week's win.
