Cricket Coaches
The cricket club now has a number of ECB Level Qualified coaches, meaning a high level of cricket development at Abercarn Cricket Club.
For the club to expand its current youth program we are always on the look out for qualified coaches, volunteers who wish to become coaches and general assistance with transport/administration. We hope to expand our youth teams over the next few years fielding Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 13s, Under 15s and also Girls teams.
Enjoyment
We understand the importance for youngsters to experience sport, to enjoy cricket and to socialise with their team mates, and that's why we give our youth teams the utmost attention. There have been many cricketers, many of whom currently play for the senior teams at Abercarn, who really enjoyed their time in youth and school teams - spending balmy summer evenings playing 20 over cricket against local opposition.
20 Over Cricket
Cricket matches at youth level (Under 11 ) consists of 20 overs per side, usually played on a weekday evening. Most matches are filled with tension and excitement, but as long as the players try their best and enjoy their cricket, we feel that our mission has been accomplished.
The training that our coaches give to the youngsters is top class and their help is always appreciated. Who knows where the next Kevin Pietersen will come from!
If you are interested in joining Abercarn Cricket Clubs Youth section as a player, coach or administrator then please contact Junior Cricket Co-ordinator Geraint Leach via the Contact Us page.

As has happened with many of our senior players at our cricket club, children will hopefully progress through the youth system, leave it aged 16 and begin/continue to play for Abercarn in senior cricket. With any sports club, the Youth section is crucial, this is no different at ACC.
