Abergavenny Bowls Club began their 2022 season with their Opening Day last Saturday 16 April. Proceedings began with a welcome from chairman Gethin Hill to both existing and new members. To begin their new season a game played by the forty members present, wearing their new club shirts, which have been sponsored by Auberge Bar Lounge and Restaurant.
In what promises to be a busy and interesting season, Abergavenny men will be playing in the MBA and the GBL leagues on Saturdays and the ladies will contest the South Wales and Monmouthshire Ladies league on Tuesdays. In addition, the club have entered a team in the relatively new South Wales Mixed League. This will give both male and female members of the club the opportunity to play bowls together against some bowls clubs who we have not played against in previous seasons.
Our competitive season begins on Saturday 23 April with a men’s EMBA game at Crickhowell. This will be followed by the ladies first league game against Pontyfelin, which has been rearranged for Monday 25 April.
