Looking for a fun, social way to get fit this summer? Why not try a new Hockey for Beginners session at Abergavenny Leisure Centre?

Abergavenny Hockey Club have joined forces with Abergavenny Leisure Centre and Hockey Wales to offer some basic, relaxed and informal hockey sessions (Back2Hockey) starting in August.

These hour long sessions are designed to be inclusive and provide a mix of fun, social sport and exercise all in one. There are plenty of rest stops to catch your breath and get to meet new friends in between.

The focus is initially on basic skill sessions, slowly increasing the intensity at a pace that you are comfortable with. If you have not played hockey before it really doesn’t matter. In fact, you won’t be alone. Back 2 Hockey is designed specifically for you and the many others who have not played recently, or even at all. New people are always welcome to the sport.

There is no level of fitness expected here, Back2Hockey coaches will take into account your level of fitness when planning and delivering each session. They will be designed to improve your overall fitness over time.

How do I get started then?

This is easy, just turn up to a session at Abergavenny Leisure Centre and we will help you to get started and get to know everyone to! Abergavenny Hockey Club will supply you with a stick and all of the equipment that you need to get going. Just bring your trainers and if you have them a pair of shin pads, but these are not essential.

Sessions will run from 8:00pm until 9:00pm as follows:

Thursday 11th August:
Thursday 18th August:
Thursday 25th August
Thursday 01st September

Your first session will be free and £4 each time after that, sessions will be run on the AstroTurf pitch at Abergavenny Leisure Centre, Old Hereford Road, Abergavenny, NP7 6EP. The minimum age for the sessions is 15 years old.
