Abergavenny Hockey Club would like to congratulate young player Daniel Taylor on earning his first cap for the Wales Men’s under 18 side who travelled to Switzerland during the Easter break to play in a series of three test matches.

Dan represented Wales in all three fixtures against Switzerland and sealed the contest with a 3 games to 0 victory over the Switzerland team. The series which took place in Lausanne, was played as part of the squad preparations for the European Youth Hockey tournament taking place later in the year.

Abergavenny as a club are immensely proud of Dan who by the age of 17 has represented Abergavenny in all age groups from under 9’s right up to the Men’s Senior First XI. Dan has also represented the South East Wales Regional Team and competed against North Wales for South Wales.

It’s great to see that for such a small Town, Abergavenny have such talent in their ranks, with Dan being the 6th Abergavenny home grown player to receive his international colours.

Club President Trevor Scott was keen to congratulate Dan on being selected and on his first international goal for Wales. Trevor explained that everyone at Abergavenny Hockey Club is proud of his achievement.

Abergavenny Hockey Club hope that Dan’s efforts will inspire other young players to come along to a junior training session and get involved in our hockey club. Hockey is a fast paced enjoyable game with lots of opportunities to make friends and learn something new.
Abergavenny have teams for both boys and girls at a range of ages from under 9’s right up to under 18’s level and into senior hockey. We are not an elite club and would encourage anybody to come and try a free training session regardless of age or ability.
