Midweek Victory for Gele

Abergele travelled to Y Glannau for a midweek fixture that usually tends to see's goals. This game was on the back of a disappointing defeat in the cup away at Glan Conwy so it was important we could bounce back.

A fast start was important and that's exactly what happened. Passing play down the left fell to Sam Ashton who delivered pin point cross to the head of Dom Holland, who as expected, hit the back of the net with a powerful header. Gele 1-0 after 2 minutes. Gele looked good in possession but credit to Y Glannau who looked strong from set pieces. It was Gele though who would kick on and deservedly so, with a set piece of their own. A Liam Robbo in swinger was met by Dan Abbott who towered above the rest to head the ball back in the danger area. The ball eventually dropped to Sam Aston who put laces to ball and smashed it home. Gele 2-0.

The second half started with Gele looking to kick on but Y Glannau as expected didn't give up and capitalised on a loss of possession from Abergele.R Jones found the back of the net which a strike from the edge of the box. 1-2.

Abergele made two changes with Nug & Ant Zoezee coming on for Liam Robbo & James Lloyd who both had very good first halves. The change of pace going forward was exactly was Gele needed though with both players getting straight into the game creating plenty of chances taking on their opposing players. On the 60th minute, after plenty of pressure the ball fell to Dan Abbott from a Moroney set piece who's left footed strike to the bottom corner put Gele 3-1 up. Minutes later though, Y Glannau found a goal back through R Jones once again. A strike which was heavily deflected bounced passed Cain in goal who was wrong footed.

Gaz Jones came off the bench for Kie Holland on the 70 minute who had worked hard down the left. Gaz into CB with Ryan Pamment out to left back.

With Y Glannau fighting back again it was for Abergele to kick on once more to put the game out of sight. Sam Ashton & Lew Moroney feeding the attacking threats out wide was soon to pay off. On the 70th minute, Cal Robbo from RB to Lew Moroney, who's pin point through ball put Nug through for a 1v1 against the Glannau keeper. Gele's 2 goal advantage re stored with a fine finish to the bottom right corner.

With 10 minutes to go, The impressive Dom Holland made way for Zack Lawrence. Gele would create a few more chances but it wasn't to be. A strong team performance away form home which secured all 3 points for Abergele.
