Right from the start ABF controlled the tempo so completely deserved it when Tim.V grabbed the first goal by slotting the ball under the advancing keeper.

Countless chances followed throughout the half, the best of which fell again to Tim V who had done all the hard work but the last man defender did excellently to clear his shot off the line and so it stayed 1-0 at the halfway mark.

Starting the 2nd half, we needed to get the next goal and kill the game which we did (I think it was another Tim V) which killed all hope that RKAVV would get anything out of this game.

With Fabricio managing the rotations, the defence dealt with any threat that was posed, midfield had acres of time on the ball which resulted in plenty of service to the forwards.

Into the latter stages and we were consistently breaking through their lines and had it not been for some dubious offside decisions by the away team linesman, we would have grabbed more but we settled with a final cross from Rod which took a deflection and seemed to completely bamboozle the keeper to make it 3-0.

It seems that the goal keeper replacement has been filled with a great addition and I’m sure Juan will be busier in future games but did what he needed to do and kept a clean sheet on his debut (Graeme to add a new nationality to the list - first ever Columbian to wear the shirt) plus a decent start by Renaud who brought some much needed pace to defence.

All in all, I doubt we will meet many opponents this season with the same lack of cutting edge and no final ball (also very young - one of their defenders was a former classmate of Ash’s son Daniel which potentially puts them younger than 20) but regardless, an enjoyable return to our home turf.

I understood RKAVV lost last week 7-0 against the team we play next week (our final cup match) so that may not be as straight forward but at
least we’ll have our Graeme back!!
