June 2020 update

Firstly we hope that as few as possible have been adversely affected by the current situations and are keeping well in body & mind! In a difficult time many have lost loved ones and endured worrying times, our minds have been with our rugby families.

Yesterday saw the latest update from the RFU regarding activity. Things are slowly moving towards opportunity to plan re-starting activities. Below is the current written guidence. After speaking to the coaching team we will review planned activity after the next phase announcements on July 4th. We then hope this will provide us with opportunity to commence the seasons preparations. Small groups are able to arrange running activities, and access to the pitches remain the same utilising the security of the combination locks.

Its still unclear when the season will start and what manner of adaptations we will have to implement to commence playing. Hopefully at the right time we will be also able to open the social facilities in a meaningful way. The AGM will also be when this happens so decisions can be reflective of attending members, this is the most appropriate course with cessation of activities and trading at this time. Financialy we have reduced as many out goings as possible and applied where appropriate for support thanks to Andrew Dunn.

After successfully appealing the level transfer process to Yorkshire 1, the process has now been correctly restarted and 7 clubs from Durham & Northumberland 1 have been invited to volunteer to move across, supplying relevant information regarding their circumstances, including ourselves. We will again act in accordance with the players wishes regarding this.

It's been great to see the outstanding efforts initiated by Ben Walker and the lads collectively raising money for the NHS exercising for 1000 miles. The Quizzes continue online connecting people on Thursday and Sunday evening and our weekly draw of £20 continues to compliment the monthly draw. End of May winners were Gary Sullivan & Phil Mableson - congratulations! Hopefully we will be socialising somewhat in person in time for the Grand Summer Draw.

Stay positive and connected, hopefully we will be together again in person soon.

Written Guidence

Two or more groups of six may train provided they are kept separate. RFU guidance is that there should be no more than four groups per full pitch and social distancing and strict hygiene measures must be observed.

Parents/carers observing a training session at a distant from a safeguarding perspective is permitted without them being part of the participating group.

While multiple small groups can engage in training at the same site, clubs must risk assess this properly and ensure that safe and adequate distancing between groups is strictly observed.

People should avoid mixing with too many others from outside their household in a short space of time and care should be taken at all times as there is a continued risk of infection.

As physical contact with anyone outside the same household is currently not permitted, the playing of any games remains suspended.
